Unicystic Ameloblastoma: A Rare Case Report with Literature Review

چکیده
Ameloblastoma is traditionally considered a benign epithelial neoplasm with virtually no tendency to metastasize. It is the second most common odontogenic neoplasm. Its incidence, combined with its clinical behavior, makes ameloblastoma the have been classically described as a multilocular cystlike lesion of jaw. The unicystic variant is far less frequent and has been reported only 6% of ameloblastomas. Unicystic ameloblastoma refers to those cystic lesions that show clinical, radiographic, or gross features of a cyst, but on histologic examination show a typical ameloblastomatous epithelium lining part of the cystic cavity, with or without luminal and/or mural tumor growth. Here, we report a case of unicystic ameloblastoma in a 28-year-old male patient.

Glandular odontogenic cyst associated with ameloblastoma: Case report and review of the literature
Glandular odontogenic cyst (GOC) associated with ameloblastoma is an exceedingly rare histologic presentation with no known clinical significance or treatment applications. Four cases have been reported, three in the mandible and one in the maxilla. The age range is 14-65 and with male predilection. All four presented with swellings and two with pain. We add one more case to the literature of a...

Unicystic ameloblastoma is believed to be less aggressive and responds more favorably to conservative surgery than the solid or multicystic ameloblastomas. This report is a rare case of unicystic ameloblastoma of the maxilla that was treated by enucleation under suspicion of a radicular cyst related to a dens in dente. The neoplastic nature of the lesion became evident only when the enucleated ...
متن کاملPlexiform Unicystic Ameloblastoma: A Rare Variant of Ameloblastoma
The term plexiform unicystic ameloblastoma refers to a pattern of epithelial proliferation that has been described in cystic cavity. Because of unilocular presentation, it is commonly misdiagnosed as an odontogenic cyst. However, they may often behave clinically as biologically aggressive tumors. These tumors show high incidence of cortical perforation, tooth resorption and a high rate of recur...
متن کاملUnicystic Ameloblastoma: Differential Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
Unicystic ameloblastoma is a tumor of odontogenic origin. It is not a rare neoplasm and most often the lesion is asympthomatic. However, large lesions may cause painless swelling of the jaws. Here we report a case of unicystic ameloblastoma with pain, swelling of the posterior jaws along with teeth mobility. Samples of incisional biopsy of the lesion and also interaoperative frozen section were...

Ameloblastoma is a benign odontogenic neoplasm which frequently affects the mandible. The term ameloblastoma includes several clinico-radiological and histological types. Apart from the most commonly encountered clinicopathologic models there are few variants, whose biological profile is unknown or not elicited. The reason for lack of understanding is the scarcity of case report published in th...
